I first began making lotion for my own personal use. I was tired of having half-used bottles under the sink that seemed too expensive to throw away, and which, frankly, didn't work. I didn't like applying them in the morning, then wondering throughout the day if I had even used any at all.

 

I set about like a mad scientist testing different formulas with various good ingredients. After a great deal of trial and error, I decided on a lotion base for texture and whipped in coconut oil, shea butter, apricot oil, aloe, and vitamin E. Part of the process was discovering that the order in which ingredients were added made a huge difference in the final product.

I quickly came to realize there were lots of other women, like myself, who wanted something that really worked. With my husband's encouragement, “My Serenity Body Lotion” was born. Over time, I added more products for my own personal needs, or by request from friends and customers, then formed an LLC once I started selling beyond friends and family. The company’s name didn't really fit anymore, so I updated it to “My Serenity Bath and Body” in 2021.

 

A few years before my husband passed from cancer, we completed a couple’s quiz on Facebook. One question on the quiz which I asked him was, “If I am ever famous, what would I be famous for?” His reply: “Your lotion.”

I may not become famous, and that is fine by me. I will continue to make My Serenity Bath and Body products that work, are good for your skin, and won’t break the bank.
